I was presented the rare opportunity: to create and establish a brand from (almost) the ground up. When I began in 2005 with Gale Mayron, the owner, creator and visionary of Jao, she had three products and an obscure Arabic style logo.

Fifteen years later, Jao is an internationally renowned brand of natural, multi-use products. Jao Brand has been recognized around the world for not only the quality of the products but for the packaging and brand as well.  Goe Oil was included in the show "Divine Details" at the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) National Design Center in NYC.

“I don’t know which is better – the quality and purity of the products or the retro-inspired package design” – Molly Dash, Everbrite Mercantile Co.

Having created individual identities for each of the products including logos, packaging and marketing materials, I am now well versed in the legal requirements for beauty packaging for both US and EU.

I designed, built and maintain online shopping systems for Jao’s online retail and wholesale customers. Both sites are built in Shopify. The sites have evolved to keep current with both responsive technology and trending design styles. They each incorporate multiple apps and customizations and are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible within the system’s parameters.

In 2020, Jao launched The Jao Social Club, its flagship store in Brooklyn, NY. Our third Shopify store was intended to be only point of sale, kept separate because it would carry products that were exclusive to the location as well as hosting social events. Since we already have jaobrand.com, there was no need for it to be available for online shopping. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we quickly turned the store into online shopping with the ability to schedule curbside pickup and private shopping with the ability to limit products to being store pickup only.

By late 2020, this store is going to evolve into a new Shopify site that will be more social and lifestyle than retail.
